Happy Fathers Day my God Part 1

Happy Fathers Day my God Part 1

By Pastor Jaco Mostert 20 July 2021

If we think about “what will bless my Father’s heart”, then we are in a good place. Do we want to make our Father smile? What can I do for God that can make Him happy? Is there anything that I have, that He wants? Is there anything I can do for Him? If you have strong faith, then you are blessing God. He doesn’t want any of us to live in unbelief. Not many things managed to upset Jesus so much as the people’s unbelief. We know our father is upset when we speak in fear; doubt; doublemindedness. These things grieve the Holy Spirit. This is why we choose to have faith in God, and not fear. Psalm 103: 13 As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe]. As a father…. We have to see God as a good father. If we don’t have the right picture of a father, our view of God the Father will be distorted. God is a Father who loves His children. Matthew 10: 28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Fear nothing but God, this is pleasing to Him. To fear God is to honour God and have reverence for Him. It’s putting Him in a place of respect and honour. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. If we don’t fear God, our human wisdom won’t be able to carry us through. We can make more wrong choices then and it can have a huge implication on matters in our life. We need to be humble before God and know how bad it can get if we try to take over our life. If “I – without God” show up, there’s going to be big problems. God wants us to humble ourselves because that’s when He can get the glory for blessing you with the ability you receive from Him to handle matters. We have to learn to say “You are God, and I am not”. A Child that misbehaves is a problem. A child must come in line with what the Father wants. This also makes our Heavenly Father happy - when we come in line with what He wants. Even a natural father finds it difficult to bless a child that is unthankful and disobedient. It is a slap in God’s face if we act and speak out of an unthankful heart; basically saying to God that we despise the life He gave us and should do a better job in our life. Proverbs 8: 13 “The [reverent] fear and worshipful awe of the LORD includes the hatred of evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way, And the perverted mouth, I hate. To love God is to hate what He hates, and love what He loves. The above scripture is what God hates. When we overestimate ourselves; and underestimate other people. We should watch that we don’t think that we are higher than other people. The only difference between you and someone else is Jesus Christ in you. According to God, the greatest among us is the servant. This is the way God wants us to live: Be in that place where we serve. God’s love language is sacrifice. That means “giving”. Hebrews 10: 38 BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE [the one justified by faith] SHALL LIVE BY FAITH [respecting man’s relationship to God and trusting Him]; AND IF HE DRAWS BACK [shrinking in fear], MY SOUL HAS NO DELIGHT IN HIM. God has no delight in us shrinking back in fear; moving in unbelief. We should repent and say “Father, I’m sorry I was afraid. I need more of Your presence”. If fear is too big for us, we don’t have enough of His presence in our daily walk. This means, you’re not praying enough, and not spending enough time with God. Accept now that the just shall live by faith. There will never come a day on earth in this life where we won’t need to live by faith. Every level will require faith. We won’t step out of the place where we don’t need to trust God anymore. It’s not going to be possible.
