Understanding God's Judgement

Understanding God's Judgement

By Pastor Jaco Mostert 3 May 2022

Today I don’t want to say that I understand fully how God’s judgment works, but I can share what I have discovered through life. Firstly, I believe that God is a Righteous God. He knows exactly the whole story of every person, the beginning and the end. May this teaching help you to understand God better, and also help you to understand other people better – because we all have a story. This is why we can’t judge. Because we don’t know everything about everyone. Only He can judge righteously. I believe that when our time is up and we stand before God that none can say that God didn’t work things out, or that He isn’t a Righteous God. No one will land before God for judgement because of unrighteousness from Him. He is the Righteous judge – always fair; always faithful; He is just, and His heart is to save people. Luke 23: 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Some people really don’t know what they are actually doing. They don’t understand the depts of their choices. God knows this – everyone is on a different level. Some people who have walked with the Lord longer than others, don’t get away with certain things comparing to people who doesn’t walk so long with the Lord. This also helps me to have grace for people – it helps to understand the different levels of people’ understanding. People can only do what they know. This is also a scary point because people perish because of a lack of knowledge. Hosea 4: 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me… To grow in knowledge of how God does things and what the way of life is, is a choice. To not grow in knowledge is to reject this knowledge. Because the options are there, no one can say to God “we didn’t know” because He knows, they didn’t want to know. For those who are seeking and submitting, will learn, and what they don’t yet know of will be covered by His grace. This is why I like to encourage people to come for counselling and prayer to also learn of better and become better in order to do better. We must have the attitude of “I don’t want to be deceived and think that all is well and good, while it might not be. So please help me, Lord.” Hebrews 4: 10 15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have One Who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin. We have a God that understands. He sees everything about me and understand. This is why He knows whether I have been doing what I can, or if I have not been doing so. He knows what I am capable of and what not. He has empathy for it all. Proverbs 21: 2 All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart. God knows the intentions of our hearts. We must always try and be aware of our motives/intentions, because it is an important factor to be able to understand whether you are making a mistake or not. You can even make a mistake but God knows WHY you did it. God is looking at our hearts and looking for the “why”. Why did you do that? Philippians 2: 12 12 Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, [i]with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). The Word says that we have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. We have to work out with fear and trembling what is OK with God and what is not OK with God. We do all of this in a love relationship with God. God doesn’t hate people. His will is to save people. Is something like this also important to us? Do you also see that God wants to share His grace with people through us? Do you see that people also just needs a touch from Heaven? Are we in line with how He sees things? We must also be aware that when we judge situations, that it must be as God judges. God will ask us one day “Why didn’t you show mercy like I showed mercy. Why didn’t you show grace like I showed grace?”
