Emotional triggers

Emotional triggers

By Pastor Jaco Mostert 22 July 2021

Inner healing and deliverance is what our ministry does, and we have seen how people become when they are not nourished and loved in the ways of the Lord as they grow up. Parents have a massive effect on a child and how the child sees themselves. Hurt people, hurt people. So I want to inspire everyone to please work on yourself. Triggers works like this: It triggers your subconscious mind. Some people hate people because of the way they make them feel. But truly they are only being triggered by what is going on inside of them already. Even parent gets triggered by their children, and this is why parents should also be healed to be able to do a good job as parents. Romans 12: 1 - 2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. The mind that needs renewing is both the conscious and subconscious mind. Mostly, the problems of people are in the subconscious mind. That is your auto-pilot. It’s the part of you that does things automatically. This is a program in your mind created in the life that you lived, and it even runs when you are sleeping. This is where the triggers point to. For example: If a taxi drives in front of you, and you get triggered with feelings of anger, it might be because of times in your life where you were treated unfairly, and that hurt and anger is still inside of you and part of your auto-pilot now. Whenever we react, it’s from our hurt. So as parents, the father should actually look like God the Father, and the Mom like the Holy Spirit. When it comes to a human being, we are a spirit, with a soul, in a body. Our spirit man should be making the calls. When our soul wants to react, our spirit should tell it “No!” Following the Lord, will transform you into a spiritually strong person, where the spirit will become bigger than the soul. The subconscious mind is a part of the mind that notices and remembers information when you are not actively trying to do so. It influences your behavior even though you don’t realize it. It’s like getting the your car, starting your car without needing to think about it. Just so, through our upbringing we get programmed.
