Friends of the Word v1

By Pastor Jaco Mostert 29 August 2022

Matthew 3: 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” First know that the Lord identifies us as He identified Jesus. And in Jesus the Father is also well pleased with us. When we can get to that place where we can see ourselves through His eyes, and where our identity is fixed in Him. James 2: 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. You become a friend of God by faith in God; by trusting God; by relying on the Lord. The 1st and most important friend that we can have is God. He ALWAYS has time for you; there is never a limit with Him; you can phone Him any time. He is always right there. God must become your best friend. He is the One that will listen when you have marriage problems; He is the One that’s going to listen to you when no one else can listen to you. Nobody else can help you like He can help you. Based on these things, we build our friendship. What we receive from Him, His love and approval; His character and ways of doing; we can then start giving to others. So, our friendships are based on the friendship we have with God. The care that He has for us, we can give to others. Are you attracted to Jesus? Do you want to spend time with Him? What are you attracted to? If you can find the main attraction inside of you, is that Jesus? Search your heart… Jesus wants you to be attracted to Him; to look for Him and spend time with Him. If you’re not attracted to Jesus, then you have to check yourself. You have to check why did you lose your First Love. It’s a love affair that we have with Jesus. This is also going to be the copy in our friendships. There is trust; always open communication; time; passion; confidence, etc. One this our friendships should be based. God wants our undivided attention. We should understand that we can’t give people completely what they are looking for. I know I can’t. But God can.
