Godly mind-set V2

By Pastor Jaco Mostert 29 August 2022

Where you place your focus, is where you will go. If your focus is downwards, you’ll go downwards. If you focus on the things above, the things of Heaven and the report of God about you / what He says about you, then you will get healed and set free from whatever is trying to keep you down. The Truth will set you free. So, if you want to go up, look up. Don’t speak death, speak life. John 8: 31 31 So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples. 32 And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].” Many only quote verse 32, but that’s missing the point. Who’s truth is it that will set us free? What truth is it that will set us free? In verse 31 we see, we find it in Jesus as we abide in His Word and live according to it, then only we will start knowing the Truth and it will set us free. You need to get more truth in about you. You need to get it into your heart, into your soul and mind, so that the lies can get washed out of you. You can feel rejected, but as you turn to God, His love and acceptance will over power your sense of rejection which you get from people. We have to get based in the truth of His love, and build our lives on the foundation of His truth. That’s where I work from. “Is it true or is it not?” 2 Timothy 3: 14 But as for you, continue in the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced [holding tightly to the truths], knowing from whom you learned them, 15 and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings (Hebrew Scriptures) which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus [surrendering your entire self to Him and having absolute confidence in His wisdom, power and goodness]. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; 17 so that the [a]man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work. ALL scripture is God breathed. It is there to convict; correct us. You’ll find that the Word will always humble you. And to be humble is a great place to be in. The Word also equips you; makes you and forms you. The Word, plus your faith in the Word is what will bring the transformation. Once you start to believe what the Word says about you, and start to do what the Word says you can do, then you will start to see God working through you. John 4: 18 18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love [g]turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear [h]brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. If there is any fear in you, there is a lack of knowledge of the love of God. So, you need to get the “God-Report” of the matter. This is where we ask “am I really rejected by Him?” And will find the truth that says “No no, I was and is accepted. He took His Son, took Him to the cross, to bring me back to His heart. I feel so loved by Him, because I believe this truth and receive my worth from Him.” If we can pursue the renewal of our minds through His Word, we will find that not even death will scare us because the Word says that nothing, not even death can separate us from His love. So OK… There is the fear of death out the door. a Good start in the renewal of our mind is to know that it’s not any of our works that makes us right with God. This will remove the pressure to perform for His love. Believe that we are right with God through the Blood of Jesus. The faith is all that is required from us. There is no pressure placed upon us. We should only believe. So believe that when you are weak, He is strong. through His power you can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you. Everything is on Him. It’s not going to be by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit we will overcome. I lean into that direction – into the Word. And not to any other side.
