Godly mind-set (Relationship)

By Pastor Jaco Mostert 29 August 2022

Today we are talking about the mindset that God wants us to have. First of all, if we don’t have faith to see what God wants us to see, we can never become who we are meant to be. We need to believe what God says about us and start to see ourself like God sees us. We need to continue in our growth and knowledge regarding how God sees us and what His Word says about us. Romans 12: 2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be [c]transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. Renewal of our minds are very important. We have heard the wrong thing so many times, that we need to hear the right things a lot more. “How do I look” is what we will be discussing. How do we look to people? How do we look to ourself? The devil hijacked this concept and made us think that “how do we look” is an outward thing. He made people start looking to the outside image. The lust of the eyes; the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. He made us believe the outside is more important than the inside. And real meaning of “how do we look” is: Are you friendly? Are you kind? Are you patient? And so on… That’s how you look. What is coming from within us, what we are radiating, is actually how we look. The outside isn’t that important, but obviously if you make the outside more important, you are going to have a lot of issues when you look at people and when you look at yourself. Because it won’t satisfy you. You won’t ever get to a place of peace. But when you look at who He says you are, you will be completely satisfied. We are looking for our “Jesus image”. The “Christ image of myself”. Throughout our lives we’ve bee clothes by people with their words about us. We need to remove that and be clothed with Christ; we have to be clothed with the Word of God and He says about us. We need to be washed with the Word of God, so that we can start to look like we are suppose to look like.
